Sam was my first show dog and very best friend. He was WD/BOW at the 1985 ESSFTA National Specialty and was an all-breed Best in Show dog.  He finished his CD in three shows with his very novice owner, earning scores of 199.5, 197.5, and 198.5 respectively.  He then went on to quickly receive his CDX title in a similar fashion.

However, Sam's legacy was not to be his career in the show ring.  He was best known as the dog who guarded our grooming set up area at the dog shows, begging without shame from everyone who passed by, and frequently jumping from grooming table to grooming table through other set ups in search of food.

Sam was my constant companion and taught me much of what really matters in life.
